Welcome to IBSFit

THE fitness guide geared toward those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Everyone's fitness journey looks a little bit different. Coincidentally, everyone's IBS tends to look a little bit different as well. While management and treatment of IBS is highly personalized, guidance is still helpful to provide a starting point and well-sourced ideas. I created IBSFit as a centralized, informative resource for those with uncooperative bowels who still desire to maintain an effective, manageable, and enjoyable health and wellness routine.

So who am I, and what is IBS Fit?

I'm a registered dietitian with a Masters Degree in Nutrition from Georgia State University. I attended the University of Michigan for my undergraduate studies with a major in Neuroscience.

I was also a high school athlete who fell in love with fitness, and ended up enjoying the weight room more than I ever did the football field or wrestling mat. I've been lifting fairly consistently since the age of 14, and enjoy other forms of fitness such as running, biking, and rock climbing as well.

I've had IBS for at least a decade at this point, and it became more severe as I entered my late 20's. Worsening symptoms made lifting and exercise more difficult, and over the years I had to adjust my routine to become more tolerable during flare-ups. I was forced to make wholesale changes to my diet and supplemental intake too, as my food sensitivities became more... sensitive. Even with the available information about IBS at hand, it took quite a bit of trial and error to figure out exactly what worked and what didn't.

Over that span, I realized I had picked up a lot of valuable knowledge that could be used to help others. IBS has become extremely common recently, especially among younger generations. I could only imagine how many people out there had gotten discouraged as nausea, bloating, and unreliable bowel movements disrupted attempts to better their health and fitness. I had the advantage of getting a head start and being able to adjust over time, putting me in a unique position to share what I've learned from my experience.
